On the Road   Conference Handouts

2010-2011 Academic Year Schedules and Fees

Arrangements:
I can offer three presentations during the school day and enjoy combined classes, but I suggest that you limit the numbers for each session to two to five classes.  I am happy to sign books during the day or after school.  Preschool to Grade 8.

Conference speaking may include a keynote and two additional breakout sessions or three separate breakout sessions.  Inservice training is customized to your needs.

I am also available for virtual visits (using Skype) with your class or library group as well as for public library presentations or presentations to parent and community groups in conjunction with a school visit or conference--or locally in Maine.

Fees:
$1100 per school day in Maine (plus expenses beyond 50 miles).
$1700 per school day (plus expenses) out of state.
$2700 per day, conference speaking and inservice training (plus expenses).
$350 Single one hour public library or evening program (plus expenses beyond greater Portland) or elsewhere in
conjunction with other school and library visits.
$250 Virtual School Visits (one hour) e-mail FMI.
Virtual Professional Development--e-mail to discuss format and fees.

Funding Sources:
Schools and libraries use a variety of sources to sponsor author visits, including Title I, district, PTA/ PTO, grants from local organizations or business groups, and funds from the sale of the author's books.

Books are available from my publishers at a 40% discount for author visits to schools and libraries.  Sale of books at cover price that have been obtained at this substantial discount can help you to fund a visit from me.

For a list of grants available to help to fund author visits and other school activities, see children's author Jennifer Ward's webpage.

For encouragement in seeking community collaborators to help fund your visit, please consult Alexis O'Neill's article Finding Funding for School Visits.
